Miles & District Chamber of Commerce is a team of dedicated volunteers who are committed to helping local businesses grow their networks and become more effective.

President: John Hoffmann

John Hoffmann’s family has been in the district for many years.  John now owns and manages their long established family business Miles Engineering with his wife Anne.

John understands and appreciates many of the finer details around the operational challenges that come with running a small business in regional Australia.

John has been involved with Chamber since its inception and is keen to ensure that the business sector and community are understood, have a voice in our ever changing environments and that they are represented fairly and honestly. 

Vice President: Mitchell Goodchild

Mitchell Goodchild has lived in the Miles district all of his life apart from some years during his secondary education in Brisbane.  He has worked in the family owned Yuleba Cypress Sawmill in Miles since 1983, now managing the family business.  

Mitchell enjoys the people and sense of community in doing business in a smaller regional community.  Being involved in the Chamber of Commerce has provided an opportunity for Mitchell to network; understand how other businesses work as well as experiencing the camaraderie of being a part of such an important group. 

Community Investment Plan Liaison Officer: Kylie Bourne

Kylie Bourne has 15 years’ experience working with community, regional arts and cultural organisations and facilities, events, local government and the private sector.

As a qualified educator, experienced community and cultural devote, Kylie brings a wealth of experience, range of skills and appreciations that provide a diverse understanding in relation to social, educational, community and cultural planning, processes, events and projects. She has a particular interest in consultation, working with and assisting community, arts and cultural organisations to strive to achieve their full potential. 

Business Development/Training Officer: Rachel Kerwick

Rachel Kerwick’s family have been in the Miles District for generations, having worked and run businesses in the community for over 30 of these years herself.  S

he and her husband Dominic run a successful local based business ‘Kerwicks Earthworks’.  Rachel enjoys doing business in the area, especially connecting with people, building local connections, the support and friendship and being able to assist new people with local knowledge. 

Rachel believes that it is important to be actively involved in the Miles District Commerce and Community, “We need a strong business community as a backbone to a strong vital community; the Chamber can facilitate this and provide valuable assistance, knowledge and connections”.
